Live a story, give a story.

This summer, the Red Cross asks you to share your blood donation inspiration and experience through Summer of Stories.

Tuesday, August 6th, Boston Cares is hosting a blood drive at One Financial Center.  Please come out and join us for this event. As a volunteer, your donation could save three lives.  That’s pretty impressive considering the donation process only takes one hour!

Bring a friend or family member to give with you.  Donate in the memory of someone special or to start a tradition of giving.

Sign up here on our Boston Cares website and receive volunteer hours for your generosity.

Robin

Story of the Week

Robin isn’t sure how many blood transfusions her daughter, Marika, received during her almost three year battle with cancer. Those blood transfusions allowed Marika to attend college, take road trips with friends and enjoy life to the fullest. Robin spent many days at Marika’s side in the hospital, not being able to do much for her. Until one day in the hospital cafeteria, Robin saw a sign for a blood drive. She realized it was a way for her to give back to those that had given so much to her daughter. That day, Robin started a new tradition. She continues to donate blood today to honor the memory of her beautiful daughter who lost her battle with leukemia at the age of twenty.
