Continuing on our staff spotlight blog series, we want you to get to know our Senior Program Manager. Destiny has been an incredible benefit to our Boston Cares team for the past three years and we’re excited for you to hear from her here.

Can you tell us about your role and what brought you to, and keeps you at, Boston Cares?
At Boston Cares, I am the Senior Program Manager on our Programs Team. I oversee our community partnerships, in which we help support individual volunteer needs of our partners. I also oversee the Allies for Immigrants program, in which we partner with English for New Bostonians to provide ESOL volunteer tutors to ESOL programs across Greater Boston.
I’ve been at Boston Cares for almost three years now, and what keeps me here is our connection to the community! I love that we are able to make a difference in so many ways across the city and help serve our partners.
What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned while working in this role?
In this role, I have gotten to learn so much about the different types of nonprofits and the biggest needs in the community. I think that it is hard to grasp how much work is going on behind the scenes of a nonprofit, until you are working at one, so it has been great to see the ins and outs over the years.
What’s one lesson from working at Boston Cares that you carry into your everyday life?
To be compassionate and always help those around you when you can!
What’s the most inspiring story or experience you’ve had on the job?
The most inspiring experience I’ve had on the job is when I get to meet our community partners in-person and hear more about how much Boston Cares volunteers make a difference.
What keeps you motivated, even on challenging days?
What keeps me motivated is knowing that the work we do is helping make a difference in the community, even on the challenging days.
