Global Volunteer Month April 2022

In April 2022, Boston Cares reimagined our volunteer awards with a month-long celebration of our honorees as part of Global Volunteer Month.  To recognize the outstanding service of our volunteers and impact of our partners, we hosted several events throughout the month to honor our awardees and allow volunteers and partners to gather and connect through social events and service projects, while sharing inspiring stories of service. Here you can read about our 2022 Honorees, and events. Thank you to our honorees and everyone who celebrated or helped celebrate Global Volunteer Month with us!

Looking Back at Our Events

We kicked off Global Volunteer month with a fun game of Online Trivia on April 6th. Our Boston Cares employees joined other volunteers over zoom for rounds of questions ranging from general trivia to questions about Boston and volunteering.

Boston Cares hosted two Volunteer Socials throughout the month to celebrate with our award winners and volunteers. On April 13th we gathered at Dillon’s in Back Bay with some of our staff and volunteers. After not being able to gather for so long the restaurant was buzzing with the sound of mingling volunteers happy to see each other again and sharing stories. On the 19th we got together at Night Shift Brewing where again we celebrated our award winners and volunteers.

At the end of the month, we got together for a Schoolyard Spring Cleanup at Otis Elementary School Saturday, April 30th. Not only were award winners and volunteers together for a service project, but we served the winner of our Outstanding Community Partner Award. The group built fences around the trees in front of the school, planted flowers and vegetables and fixed broken and rotted benches and picnic tables for the students.

Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who joined us to celebrate Global Volunteer Month! Boston Cares values all of the hard work from our volunteers to serve the Greater Boston Community and we enjoy the ability to celebrating that work each year.
