Monday, April 8th kicks off National Volunteer Week and Boston Cares is excited to recognize our outstanding volunteers, corporate partners, community partners, and donors for your contributions to making Greater Boston a better place for all. Whether you volunteer on your own through our calendar, Corps program, or ServiceWorks, once a year with your family at MLK Day, or with your company through Hands at Work, we celebrate you this week for your service and civic engagement. Last year alone, Boston Cares filled 25,000 volunteer slots by engaging 9,600 volunteers in 66,200 hours of service. That’s a lot!
Celebrate with us this week and support volunteerism in Boston! Below are a few ways YOU can make an impact and get more involved in your community.
- Join us for Boston Cares Benefit Night at Flatbread Co. on Tuesday, April 9th. Bring friends and family to Flatbread Co. in Davis Square for pizza, bowling, and a Gift Grab with some awesome prizes! Throughout the evening, a portion of every flatbread sold will be donated to Boston Cares.
- Share your story on social media using #MilesofGood to celebrate volunteerism and the spirit of the Boston Marathon throughout the month of April! You can post about the creative and inspiring ways that you and fellow volunteers have responded to the ever-changing needs of our community. Read more here.
- Donate to Boston Cares so that we can continue to offer high quality volunteer programming and find new ways of engaging Bostonians in service. Read about more ways to give here.
- And finally, get involved if you aren’t already! Come to an orientation to learn more about our flexible online calendar, become a Corps member, join a Volunteer Leader training, and more! Reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with questions.
Happy National Volunteer Week from all of us here at Boston Cares!
