Between the 1st of June and August 31st, Boston Cares is challenging you to complete 10 service projects or 25 hours of service to help make sure that the volunteer needs of Boston are met, even with all the vacation and relaxation of the season. All those who meet this goal by the 31st of August will win a highly coveted Boston Cares T-shirt and the knowledge that, because of you, Boston is a little bit brighter and a little bit kinder. No action at all is required to enter the Summer of Service challenge, simply volunteer through your Boston Cares account and we’ll take care of the rest. We know that our volunteers don’t shy from a challenge, and when you have a group of 4,500 people looking to push themselves to see exactly how much good they can do, you don’t say “no.”
Start your Summer of Service journey with some of our seasonal outdoor projects! Maintain the vegetable gardens at Paige Academy, spend a couple of hours in the Emerald Necklace Conservancy’s Rose Garden raking and pruning or join one of our volunteer teams on the Rose Kennedy Greenway to enjoy the good weather and make these parts of the city more beautiful for the thousands who visit them every day. For those days were it’s just too hot to be outside, consider Facilitating Professional Development with Youth through the MLK Scholars Program or High School Equivalency Math/Writing Tutoring, where you can make an impact while beating the heat! With over 225 volunteer opportunities offered every month, there’s no shortage of ways to be involved in service this Summer, no matter what your interests. Accept the Summer of Service Challenge and help create a better Summer and an even better city for your fellow Bostonians!
