As the Boston Bruins closed out the regular season on their way to their third straight playoff appearance, Boston Cares was thrilled to be a nonprofit partner for Berkshire Bank’s Exciting Assists program, in partnership with New England Sports Network (NESN). For the final third of the season (February 10 – March 31), Berkshire Bank donated $100 to Boston Cares for each scoring assist made by a Boston Bruins player. With the Bruins on a winning streak, the final grant came to over $23,000 to support Boston Cares! In addition to the generous donation, Berkshire Bank and NESN highlighted Boston Cares during games as the Exciting Assists partner, providing valuable visibility for our programs which has helped drive an increase in new volunteers joining Boston Cares, and spikes in web-traffic during games. In fact, this February alone, we saw a 78% increase in New Volunteer Orientation attendees as compared to February 2017!
We are proud to partner with Berkshire Bank and NESN – both of which have a strong culture of volunteerism and giving back to the Boston community. We look forward to a continued partnership, including working with Berkshire Bank for their upcoming Xtraordinary Day on June 5, when they expect to have an estimated 90% of their workforce volunteering in their local communities.
