President Obama Wants to Recognize You!

Some of our 2014 PVSA Winners at the Annual Awards.

Each year the President of the United States recognizes volunteers for their service. In 2014, 70 Boston Cares volunteers earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award. Adults can earn an award with a minimum of 100 hours served between 9/1/14 and 8/31/15. The minimum is 26 hours for kids age 5-10 and 50 for teens age 11-15. Along with the ultimate honor of presidential recognition, recipients receive a personalized certificate, an official medallion, and a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States. We present the bronze, silver, and gold PVSAs at the Boston Cares Annual Awards in October and each winner is invited to attend the event at no cost.

• Learn more about the PVSA at http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/the-award

• Check your volunteer hours balance by logging into the Boston Cares web site and clicking on My Account at the top left.

• Boston Cares tracks all of our volunteers’ hours. If you also volunteer outside of Boston Cares, you may self-report hours and they also count towards your goal. Self report volunteer hours at http://www.bostoncares.org/HOC__Self_Reported_Hours_Page
(Please note: self-report hours will always show as “please verify” in your account. If they fall within our reporting period, they will be included in our PVSA award calculations.)

Thank you for your service!
