Every year the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund enlists the help of hundreds of volunteers to plant an immense garden of flags on the Boston Common for Memorial Day. Each of the 37,000 flags planted at the Soldiers and Sailors Monument will represent each Massachusetts service member who gave his or her life defending our country since the Civil War. The completed garden is a moving tribute to the true meaning of Memorial Day and a powerful message of community support to the families of these fallen heroes.
Once again, Boston Cares is supporting this project with a team of more than 30 volunteers who will help “plant” the garden on Wednesday (this project is filled). Our team intentionally includes veterans and active service members. We encourage you to go by the Boston Common over Memorial Day weekend to see this spectacular tribute. There will be a Military Heroes Ceremony on Thursday, May 22 at 10:30 a.m. Click here for reservation details.
