Next Tuesday form 5-8:30 p.m., we hope you’ll join us at the Boston Public Library Copley Branch, downstairs in the Rabb Auditorium for the Boston Cares Miles of Good Volunteer Expo. There will be a talk on getting started as a disaster relief volunteer, two free orientations, and lots more. It’ll be free and fun.
You’ll also be able to check out the new exhibition of materials that were part of the extraordinary outpouring of support from around the world last April after the bombings. Dear Boston: Messages from the Marathon Memorial opens on Monday and will run through May 11 in the McKim Exhibition Hall.
As the curators write: “Each of the objects left at the memorial, whether giant banner or tiny scrap of paper, store-bought or handmade, was a message of love and support for grieving families and a grieving city. They were hope in material form, symbolizing the human desire to help, comfort, connect, and sustain when confronted with great tragedy.”
What a boost our city received from the thousands of people from around the world who reached out with messages of support. It made such a difference.
