ATTENTION: Volunteers needed for Distaster Management

ATTENTION!

JUMP INTO ACTION WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY IN FRAMINGHAM, MA.

As we watch Hurricane Sandy approach New England, Boston Cares is partnering with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) to support the call center at the emergency bunker in Framingham, MA.  We are looking for volunteers who are able to safely get to the bunker Tuesday morning at 7 am until Tuesday night at 7 pm.  There is a pending need for volunteers for Wednesday, as well.

The volunteer role here involves answering calls specific to the “ESF15”, which handles volunteers and donations.  Training is provided onsite, as well as food while you’re there.  Working in the bunker is a unique experience to assist first hand with emergency management personnel.  This opportunity is different than our usual events in that it is not managed by a Project Leader and its filled under short term notice.

If you’re interested in learning more about the opportunity, or signing up for a shift, please contact our Honored to Serve VISTA, Carmine Leighton at cleighton@bostoncares.org or on her cell phone at 406-224-2731.
