At Boston Cares, we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. Day as an opportunity to come together in service and take collective action to address our community’s most critical needs. By partnering with 14 nonprofit organizations and mobilizing 450 volunteers, we honored the legacy of Dr. King through service and civic engagement.
Our MLK weekend of service culminated on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day with a Day of Service that brought community members together to support local nonprofits. Through these collaborative efforts, volunteers accomplished the following:
- Donated 1000+ clothing items to Catie’s Closet
- Wrote 600+ Valentine’s Cards for Ethos
- Created 550+ activity kits for School on Wheels MA
- Made 275 meals in a jar & 120+ decorations for Pine Street Inn
- Assembled 300 hygiene kits for Victory Programs
For more than 20 years, Boston Cares has proudly partnered with the Greater Boston community to honor MLK Day through service. Each year, we are inspired by the power of collaboration—many individuals working alongside nonprofit partners to expand impact and meet urgent community needs.
This work was only made possible with the help of our Partners, Citizens, and additional support from The Cummings Foundation. Together, we continue to advance a stronger, more equitable Greater Boston through service.
