Join us for Make A Difference Day!

Boston Cares will celebrate national Make A Difference Day on Saturday, October 28 with a Bed Build to benefit children and families in need.

IMG_1337More than 1,500 Greater Boston school children do not have a bed, which affects their self-esteem, ability to learn, and likelihood of graduating from high school. These children are sharing beds with other family members, sleeping on the couch, or sleeping on the floor. The epidemic of bed bugs also can force a family to replace all their beds and bedding at once, which is unaffordable for most low-income families.  To address this need, Boston Cares launched the Bed Project in 2014.

The Bed Project engages teams of volunteers to assemble bed frames and prepare them for distribution to partners across New England – organizations who are directly serving low-income families in need or transitioning out of homelessness, and children in the foster care system.  As participants in The Bed Project, teams of volunteers work together to craft a quality wood bed frame for those in need.

Volunteers can sign up as individuals or groups, with a requested donation of $150/volunteer to support the program and supply costs. To register, or create a fundraising page to support your participation, click HERE.
